Material
The top is solid American walnut, finished with oil. The frame is the original Mac Pro aluminium enclosure — anodized, perforated, and left in its factory finish. Nothing is painted, wrapped or faked.
Why this bench exists
The classic Mac Pro tower carries the model number A1186 — a machine engineered to be opened and kept. Bench.1186 takes its name from that number. Rather than let two retired towers become e-waste, we join them with a hand-finished walnut plank and turn them into a piece of furniture that can last far longer than the computer ever could.

Compatibility
The mounting system is designed for the classic aluminium Mac Pro tower produced between 2006 and 2012. Both towers should share the same external enclosure so the bench sits level.

Assembly
The bench is designed to go together by hand with a single tool. The mounting system clamps to the enclosures without drilling into the aluminium.
- 1Position both Mac Pro towers at the intended spacing.
- 2Attach the mounting brackets to each enclosure.
- 3Lower the walnut top onto the brackets and secure it.
- 4Level and enjoy.
