The HARDWOOD Bench.1186 is a bench with a solid American walnut top resting on two original Mac Pro tower enclosures, which act as the legs. The retired computers become the frame of a piece of furniture, handcrafted in Germany.
Is HARDWOOD affiliated with Apple?
No. HARDWOOD is an independent design studio and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc. We reuse original enclosures from retired machines. Mac Pro is a trademark of Apple Inc.
Why does the bench cost €1,976?
The Complete Bench is €1,976 incl. VAT. That reflects two sourced and prepared Mac Pro enclosures, a solid American walnut top, a custom mounting system and hand-finishing in a German joinery. The Wood Kit, for people who already own two matching towers, is €1,276 incl. VAT.
What is included in the Wood Kit?
The Wood Kit contains the solid American walnut top and the mounting system. It is intended for buyers who already own two matching Mac Pro towers and want to supply their own enclosures.
Which Mac Pro models are compatible?
The mounting system is designed for the classic aluminium Mac Pro tower produced between 2006 and 2012. Both towers should share the same external enclosure. The 2013 cylindrical Mac Pro and the 2019 Mac Pro are not compatible. Exact per-model fit confirmation is still being finalised (TBD).
When does production begin?
HARDWOOD is built on demand. The first production series begins once 100 people have confirmed their place on the waitlist via double opt-in. We share progress toward that number on the site.
Is the waitlist binding?
No. Joining the waitlist is free and non-binding. No payment is taken and no purchase obligation is created. It simply tells us you are interested and helps us reach the first 100.
Is international shipping planned?
We are gauging interest by country through the waitlist. Shipping details and available destinations will be confirmed before the first production run. Details: TBD.
Where is the bench made?
Every bench is handcrafted in a joinery in Germany. The walnut is worked and finished by hand before being joined to the prepared Mac Pro enclosures.
